What I really want…

…is a cheap stick-shift car. Why? Because I want to re-learn how to drive a stick shift. I once knew by learning with a friend’s minivan. Yep, that’s right…a stick-shift minivan. That of course was well over a decade ago. Wow, a decade already? Blimey, I’m old…

Computers: love vs. hate

There’s a guy at work that says “computers are like women…hate to deal with them but can’t live without them”.
When things are working correctly computers are great. Entertainment, work etc etc. Plus, there’s that little thing called the internet.
I must say, I really like my current laptop computer. MacBook Pro works great and it [...]

never enough fuzz

I love fuzz! If you aren’t a guitar player or musician that hangs around guitar players you’re probably looking at an old blanket thinking “huh”?
Fuzz is an effect. I’ll keep this basic: It kinda started with the Fuzz Face and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. Yes, I know there are others, so don’t burn me because [...]

this vs that vs those

I’m one of those people that always thinks there’s something better than the item I’m interested in. I decide I need/want something, find something I like, and then search for something that’s “better” only to debate between the two items endlessly until they are both out of date. I’m either too picky, or indecisive…I haven’t [...]

dumbing down sports for network TV

I’ll admit it, I’m not a huge fan of the typical popular sports in the U.S. I love watching the Trailblazers play basketball, but with other teams playing I lose interest. I’ll watch football…only if there’s nothing better on. I enjoy watching the Twins and Brewers in baseball; other than that I get bored quickly. [...]

Thanks for nothing VW

Some people may know I really really wanted a 2010 VW GTI 4-door, Carbon Gray Metallic, with DSG and sunroof. The problem was that I tried to order one from the dealer too late. By the time I got talking with the dealer, VW had moved on from 2010s. VW stopped taking orders for 2010s, [...]

bye bye Yahoo!…hello Google

Let’s be honest…the majority of people internetting have always relied on Google as their primary search engine. I have not. To me, a search engine was always a search engine. Both Yahoo! and Google worked well for me, but Yahoo! had the bonus of quickly checking up on news and a bunch of other random [...]

there are bikes, and then there are bikes…

When I say bike I mean bike…bicycles. Not motorcycles or motorbikes. Pedals with human legs pushing them to make them go.
Back as a kid I think I rode my bike everyday…or at least nearly everyday. I remember I had an old-styled red one. Finally I got a BMX bike…my black Huffy. That bike saw [...]

Things noticed in Portland

I’m still in Portland. It’s quite fun. Here are a few things I’ve been noticing:
1. There are lots and lots of Mini Coopers. I see more Minis than VW Golf/Rabbit/GTIs (and I did see a Rabbit today).
2. Cars all over are parked on the wrong side of the street in residential parts. For example: if [...]
