As I write this we are 9 1/2 hours away from the start of the final race in the 2006 Formula 1 season. I’m sure it’ll be fun. I can’t wait.

Anyways, another thing that will be fun will be my Formula 1 season review. It’ll mention what teams I thought had a good season, and what teams lost the plot. Some of the review could be written before the final race, but there are a few important storylines that aren’t yet finished.

Anyways, keep your eye out for the season review. And once it’s here you can say “Hooray, finally some content on this site!”

Wow, a new feature! If you haven’t noticed, the newest five comments for all posts are now shown to the right of this text and on the Rants & Rambles page. Why? I’m glad you asked!

When I go to a website I look for new comments to the most current post and that’s all. But, if there’s a new comment to an older post I never see it. I’m sure that there are some tech programs out there to help people from missing new comments on older posts, but I can’t be bothered.

It all started with this post on July 12. The post was created June 1st. Now the search engines must be finding this site because on July 12 that post got a new comment. Thankfully WordPress sends me an email anytime someone leaves a comment, otherwise there’s the good chance I would have never known about it. Then I thought “if I would have missed it, how many others would miss it?” So, the talking stages were started about whether such a feature is possible.

I knew the feature was needed on August 18 when I got an email about a new comment to a post from July 27. Honestly I can’t tell you how it works and stuff because I didn’t set it up. But, thanks to PDF this feature is now a reality and working. I like it, and it’s useful. Enjoy.

In other news, I just started a Pure Volume account.

As you may have noticed the entire color scheme was just recently changed. Well, I take that back as the “majafa” logo in the upper left is the same.

Anyways, I liked the design, but the colors just didn’t work together. Black, grey, white majafa logo, white bg, and blue squares with black text. It just didn’t really blend together. So I’m proud to introduce some new colors. Hopefully it will motivate me to add some content.

I’ve always been a fan of black on black, or white on white…any color on top of the same color. It just looks classy and refined. So hopefully you’ll notice that the non-moving small square bg graphic is still there, just in black rather than blue. Along with this is a very deep charcoal color (I don’t know the tech names for colors, sorry) that’s nearly black. Fans of the new MacBook Pro may find it to look familiar as the color is also used on that wonderful looking laptop’s webpage.

The best part of the new color scheme is the green. This color has been dubbed “Escape green” by PDF as he used it on the old Escape Eperil site…also known as Esca 23 if I recall correctly.

Sure some may hate the new colors. Others may say “it’s about time”. Whatever you think I say it’s an improvement over the original. Now I just need to come up with some content…

The first match of the 2006 World Cup just finished with Germany beating Costa Rica 4-2. Hopefully the USA will have a good Cup and make it out of the group stages. If the US has a good Cup run it could help the growth of football/soccer/whatever in the US. Hell, maybe the MLS would even be taken seriously…maybe I’d even take the MLS seriously.

The ESPN/ABC family has taken a big leap for the Cup and will be showing every single match live. That takes a huge effort and surely the World Cup won’t get the best of TV ratings, so well done to ESPN/ABC for taking the plunge and showing all the games! Put that along with Yahoo teaming up with FIFA to put together the official World Cup website, and there’s coverage like never before.

In other babble I’m currently on a gear binge for guitar equipment. Somehow when it comes to musical instruments/equipment, no matter how much stuff I have I always want more. Currently I have my heart set on a new Hagstrom Super Swede, Swede, or Viking. Hagstrom is an old company that was just recently revived and is once again making guitars. Along with the Hagstrom I’m still looking at a Gibson ES-335, which is a small fortune alone, as well as a DiPinto and a Rickenbacker 360. Aside from guitars there are about 20 combo amps I’m comparing hoping to find the single best one and there’s a list a mile long of fun effects pedals I want. Now if I could only justify buying more stuff…

Finally, there very well may be a new look to the site soon. I’ve decided I like the overall design, but the colors just aren’t up to my liking…they just don’t gel with each other. I dunno. Hopefully the background color 151515 will work with a few other tweaked graphic colors. Speaking of the link, I’m nearly ready to pull the trigger on that purchase as well, and thanks to someone pointing out a current promo/rebate, I might even get a free Nano, or a reduced price 60GB, ipod with it.

Loads of stuff to mention on various topics so here it is all in one post:

1. click here if you’re a fan of the NES RBI Baseball game, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, or clever computer stuff in general. Someone has replicated the famous 1986 game and it’s worth watching all 8 or so minutes of it. It’s Great!!!

2. I’m in a phase where I feel it’s bad luck if I spell a word wrong while typing and don’t retype the whole word, so instead of simply hitting backspace and correcting the wrong letters I feel compelled to delete the entire word and type the whole thing over again. Since this obsession began it’s taken me much longer to type things.

3. I listen to Chris Moyles Show everyday and 5 of the best songs, in my opinion, currently on BBC Radio 1 playlist are: Orson “Bright Idea”(too bad their first single was crap), Snow Patrol “You’re All I Have”, Keane “Is it Any Wonder”, Matt Willis “Up All Night”(kinda 80′s sounding and kick ass…too bad he used to be in Busted haha), Feeder “Lost & Found”. Now go pay money for them on itunes, or listen for free by listening to DJs’ shows on the Radio 1 website.

4. I have been thinking about this for a few months and finally decided it is indeed my life goal/dream to buy the Minnesota Vikings. Wilf family, name your price.

5. Scott Speed is the first American to drive in Formula 1 since Michael Andretti in 1993, so I decided an interview was needed. Check back soon for an exclusive Scott Speed interview…hopefully, maybe.

6. May is TV season finale month. All the shows are promising huge, epic endings. I can’t wait! And yes I know I’ll most likely be disappointed by a few. Oh well.

Wow, it actually looks like a website! With some help from PDF, the site finally has it’s own look. No more standard blog design here. In an earlier post I stated that I’m not a fan of websites that sit and wait for a new design, with content, to be 100% completed before launching it (with the exception of sites that sell things and have customers paying through the site…those need to be spot on before launch). You will notice that I have stuck with that train of thought as there are only a few pages with content, with most of them simply say “Coming soon”. Let me take this opportunity to go through what is currently available on the site.

The king of all features is still the map of football (soccer) stadiums. There are currently two ways of getting there when starting at the homepage, see if you can find them both. Also take notice that this is the only Rants & Rambles post shown on the front page. This was done is an effort to clean up the look of the page as I don’t really like sites that have a huge list of blog posts that turn into a scrolling nightmare. To view past Rants & Rambles simply click one of two places: below this post, or in the menu at the top right. On that page you will currently find a limited version of the previously said scrolling nightmare, as it shows the last 5 posts. The entire library of posts is viewable by clicking through either the ‘Monthly Archives’ or ‘Category’ menus.

Of course, there are other features that will make their way to the site in the future. Obviously the links section will feature links to my favorite sites. The music section, the main reason for starting the site, will eventually include equipment setups and mp3s of majafa. The sport section will expand to include Formula 1 info and maybe some other soccer news besides the map. Finally, at this time, the extras section is wide open. Things such as a photo gallery of my shoes to reviews of currently available dental products…anything is possible. A total free-for-all that may one day end up taking over the site. I guess we’ll wait and see.
