new design replaces generic

February 13th, 2006 | site update

Wow, it actually looks like a website! With some help from PDF, the site finally has it’s own look. No more standard blog design here. In an earlier post I stated that I’m not a fan of websites that sit and wait for a new design, with content, to be 100% completed before launching it (with the exception of sites that sell things and have customers paying through the site…those need to be spot on before launch). You will notice that I have stuck with that train of thought as there are only a few pages with content, with most of them simply say “Coming soon”. Let me take this opportunity to go through what is currently available on the site.

The king of all features is still the map of football (soccer) stadiums. There are currently two ways of getting there when starting at the homepage, see if you can find them both. Also take notice that this is the only Rants & Rambles post shown on the front page. This was done is an effort to clean up the look of the page as I don’t really like sites that have a huge list of blog posts that turn into a scrolling nightmare. To view past Rants & Rambles simply click one of two places: below this post, or in the menu at the top right. On that page you will currently find a limited version of the previously said scrolling nightmare, as it shows the last 5 posts. The entire library of posts is viewable by clicking through either the ‘Monthly Archives’ or ‘Category’ menus.

Of course, there are other features that will make their way to the site in the future. Obviously the links section will feature links to my favorite sites. The music section, the main reason for starting the site, will eventually include equipment setups and mp3s of majafa. The sport section will expand to include Formula 1 info and maybe some other soccer news besides the map. Finally, at this time, the extras section is wide open. Things such as a photo gallery of my shoes to reviews of currently available dental products…anything is possible. A total free-for-all that may one day end up taking over the site. I guess we’ll wait and see.
